Old Point Comfort Marina (OPCM) offers for rent two 20’ Privateer Roamer Center Console Fishing boats equipped with 90 horsepower engines. The vessels are equipped with a VHF radio, life jackets, throw cushion, and a first aid kit.
You do not require a Virginia Saltwater Fishing License while operating an OPCM vessel. OPCM has purchased Saltwater Recreational Fishing Licenses from the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. These licenses cover anyone utilizing OPCM vessels.
New Safety Requirement:
All customers taking check rides this year must successfully pass a boating safety course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). This includes courses offered by Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries (Boat Virginia) and courses offered by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or U.S. Power Squadrons. Also available are NASBLA-approved internet-based courses. Most are free and are listed as links below. You must have a copy of this certificate in-hand prior to taking the OPCM check ride class. No exceptions! In order to maintain OPCM rental boat eligibility, currently certified OPCM customers have until June 30, 2008 to turn in their boat safety certificate.
BY VIRGINIA LAW, THIS COURSE IS A REQUIREMENT FOR ALL BOAT OPERATORS.
