Support Readiness and Well-being of Families by Reducing the Conflict between Military Mission Workforce Requirements and Parental Responsibilities.

Our Goals
  • Facilitate family self-reliance and reinforce Army values.
  • Ensure availability of predictable programs and services for eligible children and youth ages 4 weeks to 18 years.
  • Maintain affordability of Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) for both patrons and the Army through researching metrics, operational efficiencies and seamless service deliver.
  • Establish and sustain CYSS program quality as a "benchmark for the Nation" in accordance with statutory requirements, DOD and Army Standards.

Philosophy

Our Mission is Caring!

A child’s education begins at birth. Everything a child sees, hears and does becomes a part of his/her background. Children draw from their backgrounds throughout their lives. The children and adults who touch a child’s life may have a lasting effect on how the child views his/her world and the people in it.

Fort Monroe’s Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) is concerned with the overall development and well-being of your child. Our goal is to provide the environment and guidance which supplements a child’s home experience and enriches a child’s life. Our programs are not a replacement for the love and security of the family. We realize that we must work with parents as partners to provide a successful child and Youth program.

Our main goal is to assist your child in developing intellectual emotional, physical and social skills in a healthy, happy and safe environment. Daily opportunities to enhance fine and gross motor skills, language development, social and cognitive skills, life, academic, computer skills, and career development are provided.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to each of you! The Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) staff and the Family Child Care (FCC) providers look forward to providing the best programs or your child. We are interested in any of your comments, suggestions and questions. Please visit the CYS facilities to see what our programs can offer.
